No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.

Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

Pushing the Limits is worth all the early buzz is getting and then some more... It's simply that good a book! It's the kind of book that you just have to read it, reach the last page and then continue on with your life. Yeah, that good.

It's no secret that this year has been a year of bad YA choices on my part, so subconsciously I stopped picking YA titles to read. Pushing the Limits was sitting in my TBR list for months before I decided to finally pick it up and now that I finished reading it, it kind of reminded me all the reasons I love reading this genre.

This book is amazing for so many different reasons and I can't possibly find one thing to say that I didn't like even if I tried. The writing style is incredible. The story flows easily, leaving the reader no room to feel bored or tired, and then there's that certain quality that makes Pushing the Limits a book you can't easily forget. Because this book, isn't your typical YA contemporary romance. Far from it. Pushing the Limits is the kind of book that talks about finding something worth fighting for, about finding meaning in your life when you think that everything is broken, a book that talks of hard things and knows how to handle them in a way that doesn't make them sound cheesy, but meaningful.

Pushing the Limits is the story of Echo, a girl who is deeply scarred both emotionally and phusically and doesn't even remember the details of her "accident" and Noah, the stoner guy who keeps changing foster homes but is nothing like what he seems to be.

I have to admit that from the premise alone, this book screams Perfect Chemistry all over. And I may have thought that they were alike for like a chapter or so. But it's nothing like it. Well, obviously they are both contemporary YA novels and they deal with two teenagers who are not what they seem to be but the resemblances stop right about there. Pushing the Limits deals with "hotter" issues, and in a really fascinating way. It's not centered on the romantic plot, the romance just comes along with the story, not being the main focus. And I found that refreshing. That way, when Echo and Noah finally get together, there weren't sparks flying everywhere, it just felt... natural.

As refreshing I found Noah's voice. At last, a fictional guy who thinks and sounds exactly like a guy his age would. He things about sex and envisions Echo in various sexy scenarios and not just lust after her in a non sexy and "innocent" kind of way. He wants to have sex with her exactly how any warm blooded teenage guy would. And McGarry gets that perfectly. I was kind of tired of fictional guys with minimum sexual urges and didn't even know about it. Sort of. Noah made me realize that in the most delicious way.

All in all, Pushing the Limits isn't an "easy" kind of novel. It's heart breaking and full of sorrow but also full of hope and need to change things for the better. I totally recommend it.
